Product News: Tru-Spec, Hersh Rostex, Bianchi and Hatch Corporation

By Jackie Rosselli

Much of this month’s product news comes from suppliers to the law enforcement and military industries. Read on for news about Tru-Spec, Hersh Rostex, Bianchi and Hatch Corporation.

Tru-Spec by Atlanco, a supplier of BDUs and other apparel to the law enforcement and military sectors, has introduced a brand new style BDU focused specifically on the requirements of tactical team members.

The Georgia-based company’s new TRU Tactical Response Uniform is founded on the ACU recently adopted by the U.S. Army, which is currently available from Tru-Spec. With input from several tactical officers around the country, including members of the Department of Homeland Security’s ICE SRT team in San Diego, Tru-Spec has added several proprietary design improvements to its TRU aimed at improving functionality, durability and comfort in the field.

Unlike the standard ACU, which is available only in a military digital pattern, Tru-Spec is offering the new TRU in six popular color choices (black, khaki, olive, navy, woodland camo and three-color desert camo) and with several coordinated accessory items including combat caps, matching t-shirts, shoulder conversion kits and name tape kits. All fabrics were developed and manufactured in U.S. government-approved factories and built to withstand battlefield conditions.

Some of the exclusive design improvements available only in the new TRU include: zigzag stitching on the hook and loop of both the sleeve cuffs and the mandarin collar; extra deep front trouser pockets; and double reinforced front trouser pocket openings to protect the pocket from wear and tear caused by the clip on pocket knives.

TRU Tactical Response Uniforms are available only from Tru-Spec dealers and distributors.

For a list of dealers, visit the Tru-Spec website at www.truspec.com , or call Tru-Spec at 1-800-241-9414.

If you’re on the hunt for wool and wool blended fabrics, your might want to consider the new instock program from Hersh Rostex, Inc, a Montreal based supplier of wool fabrics since 1935. .

According to a press statement, the fabrics are ideally suited for everyday and dress uniforms for police officers, firefighters, airlines, banks, hotels, transit, casinos and schools. ‘With the closure of Cleyn & Tinker last year, the need for quality in-stock wool and wool blend fabrics still existed in the North American market’ says Ron Shashoua who decided to launch the division last year. ‘It took us a while to build up the inventory but we keep a good balance of fabrics on hand and over 20 different qualities including Serges, 3 plies, Tropicals and Baratheas.’

Fabric dyelots can also be ordered in custom colors from various sources across the globe, including NAFTA compliant. ‘Our fabrics are already approved for use by many municipal and government agencies’ adds Sass Shashoua and we can ship as little as 1m to bulk. The company sees growth in the instock service as it has become difficult to find fabrics of this type on the floor, ready to ship.

Bianchi International has just introduced the Model 90 Vision™, a leather concealment holster designed specifically for those who carry a light mounted on their weapon. The Vision offers a semi-closed bottom design that covers the bezel of the light to protect the lens, yet open at the muzzle end to allow debris to fall through. This traditional thumb break holster features a belt loop design, allowing the pistol to be carried both strongside or in a cross draw mode.

The Bianchi® Model 90 Vision is constructed of the highest quality full grain leather and is available in a plain finish, tan or black. And finally for July, it seems fitting that as the United States celebrates its independence, this column receives news of products designed to protect the country’s armed forces.

Whether or not you’re in a life threatening situation, it is essential that your equipment provide the very best protection against the hazards that may arise. Two products from Hatch, a leading supplier of gloves and other protective gear for the law enforcement, corrections, military, homeland defense and commercial markets, do just that.

The Hatch Centurion Knee Pads afford shock absorption with their high-density foam construction and polyurethane thermoplastic non-slip caps. The Rapid Deployment Clips allow the soldier to quickly attach and detach these protective knee pads as the mission demands. And Hatch Operator Tactical Gloves have a proven track record with the U.S. Military Forces.

The Hatch Corporation is a part of Armor Holdings Products Group.
