How do I add a product to
a customer store and change the price that customer
sees?
As you know, the power of the UMSS lies in its ability to
manage not only a general public store, but to setup customers
stores. In a customer store, the shopper will see only the
products assigned to that store (their uniforms and equipment,
for example). They will also see those products at the specific
prices, with specific customization options (if applicable).
This lesson assumes that you already have a store setup for
a customer and now wish to add a product to that store. The
UMSS does not make you reenter the product! All you have to
do is assign the product to the store and adjust the prices
or options.
Let's look at how a product is assigned to a customer and
prices adjusted. Login to your UMSS admin and perform these
steps.
1. Select Products > Active Products. Find the product you
wish to assign using the search filters at the top of the Active
Products page.
2. Click on the Stores tab at the top of the product section.
3. Check the box next to the Store you wish to assign the
product and click Update. This will add the product to that
Store so when a customer logs in to their Store they will see
that product. Once assigned you will be able to adjust the
prices.
4. Adjust the prices for the product for that customer Store,
if required. This is potentially a two step function:
A. Adjust the Base Price on the main Store screen. Click
the Lock Box (checkbox) next to the price and that sets an
override on the base price in the General Data area specifically
for this product, in this Store. (Example: price is $10.00
in public store and in General Data, but the customer gets
a discount, so you check the Lock Box and set base price to
$8.95.)
B. Adjust SKUs on an individual basis by clicking on the
SKUs button for this particular product, in this particular
Store. From within there you can select the specific SKUs a
customer will see. Want them to only see Navy? Uncheck all
the other colors. Want them to only see sizes medium to 2XL
instead of all sizes? Uncheck the sizes you do not stock for
that customer. Finally, adjust any pricing on the SKUs you
do want that customer see by changing the prices and clicking
Update.
That's it! Of course, if there are other features, such as
embroidery options, there are additional steps under the Custom
Fields button. But let's leave that for another day.
